Liberty Township man was Bashlin plant owner

David “Dave” W. Cooney, 53 Kimberly Drive, Liberty Township, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, in his residence. He was 56.

Mr. Cooney was born Nov. 1, 1951, in Grove City to Matthew Michael and Norma Jean Weston Cooney.

He was a graduate of Miami (Fla.) Military Academy.

Dave was employed since his 21st birthday by Bashlin Industries, Grove City, and was plant manager for the past 16 years.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 519, Grove City; and American Legion Post 159, Mercer.

He enjoyed antiques, auctions, cars, motorcycles and hunting. Dave was one of the original helpers in the area with the Secret Santa program that began in 1994.

Dave is survived by: two daughters, Jamie Cooney and her fiancé Daniel Heard, Atlanta, Ga.; and Miranda Dagres, Grove City; two sisters, Melissa M. Cooney, Grove City; and Sharon Lynn Cooney, Maracaibo, Venezuela; and a brother, Michael M. Cooney and his wife Beth, Grove City.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Calling hours were Wednesday (2-27-08) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
